01 / NOTE
Describe the business and the audience
Explain what you offer, who it is intended for, and why this project matters now. Include the questions customers ask and the facts that can be used in the work. A brief should not depend on the creative team guessing the business model.
02 / NOTE
Define the job
Name what you want to create or change and the response it should support. Distinguish a business goal from a requested deliverable: more useful inquiries is a goal; a landing page is one possible piece of work. The conversation can then examine whether the pieces fit.
03 / NOTE
List the available material
Identify existing content, brand assets, product information, platforms, and accounts. Say what is approved and what needs development. Confirm usage rights for materials rather than assuming everything supplied can be published.
04 / NOTE
Set the practical boundaries
Share budget considerations, deadlines, decision makers, and dependencies. Ask how scope, revisions, fees, expenses, and handover will be documented. A better brief makes a proposal easier to assess; it does not guarantee a result.
